During my time with Unimatic watches, I've had the fortune to try many models from this brand.
As many know, I am consistently impressed by the company's ability to release new models that surprise with their originality and quality. This is thanks to Unimatic's founders, Giovanni Moro and Simone Nunziato, professional industrial designers who created a unique minimalist concept for their watches. Their style is based on eliminating excessive decorative elements, allowing for experimentation with colors, shapes, and materials. Additionally, the Italian brand offers versions of their models in lightweight titanium. The latest release is the limited edition Modello Quattro U4S-T-LB, which I had the opportunity to study in detail.
First Experience with Unimatic Titanium Watches
Although the brand has been releasing titanium versions since 2022, the Modello Quattro U4S-T-LB was my first encounter with Unimatic's titanium watches. Over these four years, the brand has presented several outstanding models that deservedly rank among my favorites. Among them are the Modello Uno U1S-TGMT, Modello Quattro U4S-T-HS, created in collaboration with Henry Singer, and the Modello Uno U1S-T-SE, developed together with the clothing brand Sease. For the new titanium version of Modello Quattro, Unimatic chose a bright and lightweight design that reflects the brand's modern military style. I had the chance to explore this model in detail and assess its features.
Technical Specifications of Unimatic Modello Quattro U4S-T-LB
The Modello Quattro model has been in Unimatic's catalog since 2020. I own the Modello Quattro U4-A - the first version of the series, which has established itself as a stylish and reliable watch for daily wear. Therefore, I was particularly interested in comparing it with the new titanium version U4S-T-LB. The main question - how much lighter and more comfortable is the titanium model compared to the classic stainless steel case.

Examining Main Case Parameters:
- Diameter: 40 mm
- Thickness: 12.7 mm
- Lug-to-lug length: 49 mm
The titanium case is not only lighter but also thinner than the U4-A version. This was made possible by using the automatic Sellita SW200-1b movement instead of the bulkier Seiko NH35A installed in the U4-A. Thus, the new model benefits in terms of weight and compactness. The case finish is achieved through sandblasting, giving the watch a pleasant matte look and tactile feel.

Colorful California Dial
The titanium case harmoniously complements the California dial, finished in titanium color with sandblasting. The dial's feature is the combination of Roman numerals on the upper half and Arabic numerals on the lower half. The indices and hands are coated with a mint-green Super-LumiNova compound, which glows bright blue in the dark. Unimatic's signature markers are located at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock positions. The design is completed by a thin light gray seconds scale and three lines of dark gray text with the brand name.

The hands are in the "phantom ladder" style and are also filled with a mint-green luminescent compound. The final touch is a mint-green NATO nylon strap with titanium fastening elements. Overall, the watch looks bright and almost summery, highlighting its lightness and fresh design.

It's worth noting that changing the strap, for example, to gray, completely alters the model's perception, making it more restrained. For the review, I preferred to keep the original strap, which perfectly reflects the spring mood in the Netherlands.

Movement and Technical Features
Inside the case is the automatic Sellita SW200-1b movement with 26 jewels, operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing a power reserve of up to 41 hours. The movement features a hacking function and demonstrates an accuracy of ±12 seconds per day. Unlike standard Unimatic models with Seiko Instruments movements, the series with Sellita belongs to a more premium segment, offering better accuracy and allowing for a reduction in case size.

Comfort and Wearability of Unimatic Modello Quattro U4S-T-LB
Reducing the case thickness significantly improves wearing comfort. The light and thin U4S-T-LB model has been a pleasant alternative to the heavier steel versions of Modello Uno and Quattro, especially on a bracelet. While I appreciate the feel of solid watches on the wrist, sometimes you want to almost forget that you're wearing a watch - and this model is just that.

The bright mint-green NATO strap constantly reminded me of the watch's presence, adding to the enjoyment of wearing it. For the summer season, it's an excellent choice, and for everyday use, I would recommend switching the strap to a gray one made of rubber or nylon.

The build quality is impressive: the screw-down crown operates without any play, making time setting convenient and reliable. Overall, the watch is perfectly suited for daily use.

Final Assessment of Unimatic Modello Quattro U4S-T-LB
The new limited edition U4S-T-LB with a colorful California dial is an interesting and fresh take on the classic Modello Quattro line. Personally, I prefer the minimalist dials of the classic models created by Moro and Nunziato, which remain my favorites in the brand's collection. However, for fans of California dials or those who already own several Unimatic models, this limited edition will be an excellent addition.

A total of 300 pieces of the model have been released at a price of €1470. Considering the lightweight titanium case and reliable Swiss movement, the price seems quite justified. For those looking for bright, lightweight, and reliable watches for spring and summer, as well as a versatile model for everyday wear with the option to change straps, the Unimatic Modello Quattro U4S-T-LB is an attractive offer.
